SELAMAT DATANG DI LOWER SCHOOL INDONESIAN STUDIES

Kelas Bahasa dan Budaya 2009-2010 School Year 

This site will help you keep up to date with what we are doing in Indonesian Studies and Art class. The following are some of the topics we will cover during the first semester (August-December):

KIDERGARTEN  

Focus on developing oral comprehension and communication. Kindergarten learns about Greetings, Name of Body Parts, Counting Numbers, and will read an Indonesian Folktale. Kindergarten has been learning and discussing about All about Me and How to greet people.

Language Point: Ini, Itu, suka, tidak suka, preposition, and polite expressions.

GRADE 1

Grade One’s that we discuss include: Greetings, Alphabet, Body parts (Five Senses), Plants as Food, Need and Want, and will read an Indonesian Folktale. Grade 1 has been practicing how to ask and answer someone’s name, tell where they are from and How to greet people.

Language Point: bisa, tidak bisa, and prepositions (the location of the objects).

GRADE 2

Grade Two first trimester topics focusing on ALPHABET include: Sound of Letters, Spelling, and Writing. Other topics we cover: Things in the Classroom, and Names and types of Animals. We have been practicing prepositions in the class and describing the objects.

Language Point: Time (sebelum and sesudah), between (di antara), Adjective, and Prepositions (the location of the objects in the classroom).

GRADE 3

Grade Three’s topics include; Alphabet Review, Family Terms, 5 Major Islands, and Read one of the Indonesian Folktale. We have been practicing how to introduce one self and ask someone’s name. We also learn about how to ask person name, and how to respond it.

Grammar: Question Words, Degrees of comparisons (lebih and paling) and adjective.

GRADE 4  

Grade Four studies the topics of Greetings, Numbers, Pantun as a Traditional Indonesian Poem, and Indonesian Island. Currently, we have been discussing about Sea and Fisherman.

Grammar: Adjectives, Personal and Possessive Pronouns and the use of –nya for belong to.

GRADE 5

Grade Five has been currently discussing Facts about Jakarta, Watch a movie of “Jakarta Punya Cerita” followed by doing Art and Craft. The next topics they will learn include; Numbers, Shopping and Bargaining.

Grammar: Question Words, Adjectives, How to express likes and dislikes, and Degrees of comparisons.
